  • Dr. Kelly C. Harnick

    Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Board Certified

    Dr. Kelly Harnick is the founder/owner of West Maui Counseling Center. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Maryland and her B.A. in psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Notre Dame and postdoctoral clinical fellowship at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Harnick is licensed as a psychologist in the State of Hawaii, Board Certified in Clinical Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Clinical Psychology. She is a member of the American and Hawaii Psychological Associations and certified by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. She works with adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health concerns, as well as specializes in recovery from trauma/abuse and women's mental health. She received training and worked in large hospital settings including the Department of Medical Psychology at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Maryland Medical System, and Sheppard Pratt Hospital, located in Baltimore, MD.  Dr. Harnick completed a Postdoctoral Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology (MSCP) and collaborates frequently with other medical professionals. She will pursue advanced licensure as a Medical Psychologist with Prescriptive Authority when Hawaii State law permits. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Mental Health America Maui County and is involved in legislative advocacy work at the Hawaii State Capitol lobbying for improved access to quality mental health care for the Maui Community. Dr. Harnick also volunteers her time serving on the Board of Directors for The West Maui Taxpayers Association, an organization focused on identifying the needs of the West Maui community and lobbying county and state governments. Before opening West Maui Counseling Center in 2011, She served as a Part-time Staff Psychologist at Molokai Community Health Center from 2010-2011. Before moving to the west side, She practiced at Hana Community Health Center from 2008-2011, serving the residents of rural East Maui. In her personal time, she spends time with family and friends, gets to the beach with her dogs, snorkels, and rides on the back of her husband's motorcycle, with a helmet of course :-)

  • Dr. Brian Teliho

    MD, Board Certified, Licensed Psychiatrist

    Dr. Teliho is a Board Certified Physician specializing in Psychiatry with more than 20 years of experience in psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and neuromodulation. He specializes in the treatment of depression, mania, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, and various forms of psychosis, such as schizophrenia. As a Psychiatrist, he is able to recommend, prescribe, and monitor medications, or other forms of psychiatric treatment, when needed to aid in treatment tailored to each client’s needs. Consequently, whether you are struggling with mild anxieties or profound mood or thought disorders, Dr. Teliho can provide a thorough evaluation and truly comprehensive care. Dr. Teliho earned his medical degree (MD) from the State University of New York’s Health Science Center in Syracuse, NY before completing his residency training at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA. He has worked in a private practice setting for most of his career, along with consulting work for the CDC, as well as serving as faculty teaching psychiatric residents at the Emory University School of Medicine. Dr. Teliho has been a lover and visitor of Maui for 20 years and is happy to join the West Maui Counseling Center Treatment Team. The Teliho family is enjoying island life and now being able offer to access to quality psychiatric care to our community is truly rewarding.

  • Dr. Andrew Gold

    Licensed Counseling Psychologist

    Dr. Andy Gold graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. He graduated with distinction from Northern Arizona University where he completed both his Master of Education degree in Counseling and Human Relations and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Counseling Psychology. He has over 20 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in the fields of mental health counseling, experiential education, and professional psychology. His published research and doctoral dissertation on the topic of anger management was the culmination of many years of professional conference training where he trained mental health counselors, special educators, and professional psychologists to work with young people who struggle to manage angry, explosive, and disruptive behavior. He is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Idaho and a credentialed Health Service Psychologist with the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Psychologist’s License in the State of Hawaii is in process. He is a recognized provider with the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare and a member of both the American Psychological Association and the Idaho Psychological Association. In the early stages of his career, Dr. Gold served as Program Supervisor for Prehab of Arizona’s adolescent residential treatment center in Mesa, Arizona designed to help adjudicated teenage boys and their families learn to manage mental illness and aggressive behavior. He later served as Clinical Director for The Guidance Center’s adolescent residential treatment center in Flagstaff, Arizona designed to help adjudicated teenage boys and girls, and their families learn to manage mental illness, aggressive behavior, and substance abuse issues. He completed his clinical internship in professional psychology at The Guidance Center, Community Mental Health Clinic in Flagstaff, Arizona working with children, adolescents and adults (ages 6 and older) specializing in community mental health counseling with emphasis in psychological testing, mental health triage, and psychotherapy. This internship site was in partnership with the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers, the Arizona Psychological Association, and Northern Arizona University. He then completed his clinical residency in professional psychology at Cherry Gulch, Therapeutic Boarding School in Emmett, Idaho specializing in child and adolescent psychology with emphasis in experiential education and cognitive behavioral therapy. His contribution to the growth and development of this award winning program was considerable as he served there in a variety of leadership positions including Psychology Resident and Clinical Director implementing their anger management curriculum based on his doctoral research on that subject. His research has been published in both peer reviewed journal article and graduate school text book chapter formats and his invited presentations have been well received around the world at professional conferences for the American Psychological Society, the European Association of Psychology and Law, and the International Council of Psychologists in the United States, Ireland, Canada, and Brazil. Dr. Gold has realized the practice value of integrating principles found in mental health counseling, experiential education, and professional psychological services to promote the growth and development of happy, healthy, human beings and he has a passion for helping children, adolescents, adults, couples and families find new and innovative ways of relating to one another that promote positive change, emotional healing and psychological wellbeing. He enjoys spending his free time exploring the islands, hiking, camping, riding his motorcycle, hanging out at the beach with friends and family, and sailing.
